Concerning the inhabitants living in Berango throughout different periods, the only reliable historical data are those from 1515 onwards. Berango has also undergone dramatic war vicissitudes, especially those related to the campaigns in which the Ibargoen and the Butrón also intervened during the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries. Among the most distinguished townspeople, we should mention the well-remembered architect Simón Pedro de Otxandategi, who built the tower of the church and the town hall, besides many other elements that show his love towards his birthplace. In any case, for more details on all that, as well as on other interesting topics, we can read the book BERANGO. 40.000 AÑOS DE HISTORIA, written by Alberto Díez Sáiz and which is divided into different sections concerning the history of Berango.
