Economy
  Primary Sector.
Once the traditional means of life, nowadays it is almost completely disappeared. Many men used to work as seamen in the nearby ports, whilst the farmhouses produced wheat, corn, beans and grapevines for txakoli.

Secondary Sector.
In ancient times, much charcoal used to be made in order to supply the nearby forges and it was common to find sandstone quarries here and there. At the beginning of the 20th century, some new mines tried to extract iron and tin, but finally, they had to close them down. Nowadays, industry is the most important field, above all metallurgy and precission mechanics.

Third Sector.
Now it is the most important of the three (54% of the working population).

Communications.
Berango is reached following the national road from Bilbao to Barrika-Plentzia. Even though the Eusko Tren trains link it with Bilbao and Mungia, the most frequent and used means of transport is the underground (Bilbao-Plentzia direction).
