Iñaki Gaminde began collecting information in January 2003, under the commandments of Berango Town Council.

   First of all, he contacted 23 elder people, all of them from the municipality.

   The data shown on the book have been collected in two stages: on the one hand, the 13 recordings made during the 20 years prior to the commission; and, on the other, the 21 recordings made 2003; in all, 35 hours in audio and 6 in video. Once those audio and video recordings were made, he transcribed the passages.

   This initiative has been subsidized by the Culture Department of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the Deputy Ministry of Linguistic Policy of the Basque Government.
